Computer requirements to run Portfolio Slicer
Summary
To run Portfolio Slicer v3.x, you need:
- a 64bit Windows computer with at least 8GB of RAM.
- Microsoft Excel 2016 or later
- Windows PowerShell 3.0 or later for the external data scripts
Portfolio Slicer does not work on Mac Office because the required Power Pivot functionality is not available there.
Script Requirements
If you plan to use the external data management scripts, you also need:
- Windows PowerShell 3.0 or later
- permission to run PowerShell scripts on your machine
- Setup PowerShell on your computer
If you encounter a PowerShell error such as Method Invocation failed because [System.Object[]] doesn't contain a method named 'IndexOf', upgrade PowerShell to version 3.0 or later.
Recommended Setup
For the smoothest experience, we recommend:
- Windows with a Excel 2016+
- enough memory to handle large refresh operations - 8GB RAM minimum, 16GB RAM recommended
- storing your Portfolio Slicer files in a stable (cloud) folder you control
- reviewing the installation guide before first use
